Foreigners in Turkey may come across several types of frauds, such as:

Scams involving currency exchange, where individuals may be offered a poor exchange rate or given counterfeit money.

“Gemstone” scams, where individuals may be sold fake or low-quality gemstones at inflated prices.

“Bargain” scams, where individuals may be offered fake or low-quality goods at high prices.

Timeshare scams, where individuals may be misled or falsely promised benefits or returns on timeshare properties

Unlicensed or illegal tour operators or taxi drivers who may overcharge or take individuals to unplanned or unsafe locations.
